When to come

A season for every reason

  1. March – May

    Spring

Bluebonnets and paintbrush along the county roads, mild days, busy weekends on the square.

  2. June – August

    Summer

River weather. Float the Llano early, eat late, and keep an eye on the afternoon heat.

  3. September – November

    Fall

Harvest in the vineyards, cool evenings, the best light of the year for the courthouse.

  4. December – February

    Winter

Quiet, cheap and clear. Some shops keep reduced hours, so call before a weekday trip.

Good to know

Small town, small print

  • Fill the tank in town before heading out on county roads. Cell service is patchy in the hills.
  • Most kitchens close between lunch and dinner. Plan a late lunch or an early supper.
  • Bring cash for small shops, museum donation boxes and rural parking.
  • Weekend rooms on the square book out first. Reserve two to three weeks ahead in spring.
